2006 - Current. I believe it is no coincidence that during the last three years all my clients have enjoyed successful growth and are well positioned for the challenging times ahead. Blue Rock has achieved high double digit growth and Hallin Marine, as well as picking up the National Business of the Year Award, continues to double sales and profits year on year.
Amano Cafes has grown from an individual branch to a chain of outlets and is now expanding outside of its London heartland and a number of new clients are enjoying working with Johnquinnconsult. We have recently added the ability to offer the full "back office" capability of design and production of graphic work, websites, in house magazines and advertisements following requests from our clients.
DIRECTORSHIPS
Former non-Executive Director Windy Tree Ltd: Windy Tree Ltd is an excellent, high growth marketing & web design company which owns a growing facilities management business. It has a number of blue chip clients and I have advised the owners of Windy Tree with regard to its growth and its own PR. They were sufficiently impressed to invite me to join their board.
2003 - Current. Founder & MD Scorched Productions, which operates johnquinnconsult: This is the trading vehicle for all my management, marketing and PR consultancy work. I advise a number of clients from a diverse range of industries who are based in Central Southern England or London.
2000 Dec - Current. Non-Executive Director Hallin Marine Subsea International PLC: Early stage investor. I have been involved with Hallin from its humble origins to its current situation as a £70 million market cap AIM listed company. I have been intrinsically involved in advising on its strategy and funding at each stage of its rapid growth. The company supplies subsea solutions to the oil and gas industry on a global basis and I responsible for its PR.
2002 Nov - 2006. Non-Executive Chairman 2dayUK Ltd:
Initial investor. Company is a major player in supplying
mobile phone content & has forged successful relationships with industry majors
including Vodafone and Google. I accepted the board's offer to become its non-executive
chairman. Over four years I welded a divergent group of investors into a united
team and obtained buy-in to reduce the board from 14 to 6 directors. I brought
in external VC to finance the next stage of growth, who, as is the norm in these
situations, wanted its own chairman.
2003 Oct - 2005 Jan. Founder of Scorched Productions Ltd: Early stage investor. estate agents with interactive promotional systems. I grew the company from start-up, establishing and running highly motivated external sales force and office teams. A key requirement was understanding the divergent needs of potential customers, shaping a successful solution and delivering within budget and time constraints.
1997 - 2000 Founder & Non-Executive Director Wave105FM: Initial investor. Left with rest of board when station sold to PLC for £29million. I was asked to join the board which lacked communication skills. A major requirement was understanding, analysing and assimilating the complex data generated by listening figures research (JICTAR) and translating in a digestible format for the board and investors. I contributed to the focus of the company and communicating its success to the outside world, which led to its huge valuation when the station was sold.
2000 - 2002 Chairman of the National Association of
Press Agencies: I overhauled the structure of the
NAPA and succeeded in obtaining consensus for a new vision for the organisation
from a large group of managing directors who constituted the organisation's
membership. This allowed NAPA members to be able to partner with their key customers,
primarily the national press, rather than have a relationship based upon confrontation.
Initially there as a hostile environment and much of my time was spent in conflict
resolution and helping all members "face the same way" while maintaining their
goodwill and support.
1991 - 2002 Press Agency Owner: Bought Solent News & Photo Agency in 1991 and Bournemouth News & Press Service in 92. Transformed them into Britain's largest regional news agency. I harnessed the diverse talents of a wide variety of professionals to build teams that grew the agency into the largest in Britain. We empowered the staff by creating clear and distinct areas of responsibilities with departments that bought in to the idea of high common standards but individual department budgets and profit-related bonuses.
